Mythili Krishna Kumar is a vocalist hailing from a traditional music family from Thanjavur, Tamilnadu. She has learnt music from many renowned gurus, in particular Guru Smt. Leelavathy Gopalakrishnan who tuned and molded her into an excellent singer. She is specialized in teaching to the needs of those who have a keen interest in music. Her family is connected with many music legends. Her family not only understands the depth of our musical heritage but is also deeply attached to the values of Bhakti which is the core of our tradition. Her father Shri. R. Raju Bhagavathar is a well-known Bhajan expert, who travels nook and corner of India to spread the great art from ancient wisdom. She has been singing for many Bharatnatyam concerts all over India.
She has completed her higher grade in Indian music conducted by Tamilnadu Government Technical Examination. She has completed B.A. (Indian music) from Madras University. In addition, she has also completed her Teacher Training course for one year from Adyar Music College, Chennai. She was working as a Music teacher for more than six years in Subbiah Vishyalam Higher Secondary School, Tuticorin, Tamilnadu. She has been teaching Carnatic music to many students across borders since 2017.
In order to revitalize our culture and imbibe the values of ancient Tamil classics in the minds of youngsters, she teaches Thirppugazh, Thirukural, in a unique and innovative manner. She also designs curriculum to various schools of music.
Mythili has a vast music experience and was awarded the title of “Ezhisaimani” by Thiruvaiyaru Government Music College, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu. She has participated in various programs and TV shows of All India Radio and Doordarshan. She had participated in intercollege music competitions and won several awards.
Her accomplishments include being honoured with “Sangeet Sironmani” award in Cuttack International Dance and Music Festival in Orissa. She was invited to sing by the trust of Siddhivinayak Mandir in Mumbai in front of the deity. She was also invited by the management of Shanmukhanandha Auditorium, Sion, Mumbai, to perform in their monthly Vakkeyakarar Day. She has performed in the Panchamveda Nrutyanjali Classical Arts Festival, Lahore, Maharastra. Salem Sangeetha Vidwath Sabha had invited her to sing in their annual Thyagarajar Utsovam in 2015. She has also performed in many well-known temples in Mumbai upon the invite from their respective trusts including famous temples such as Ram Mandir and Iyappa Mandir in Goregaon. She had performed in Upvan Festival 2015, Upvan lake, Thane, Mumbai, which is regarded as one of the top five festivals in Mumbai. She has been singing for Ghandharva Bharatanatiyam Exams conducted by the Government of Maharastra.
