A well-known vocalist, teacher, instructor and performer of Hindustani classical vocal music, Yagnyaseni Majumder Mitra is a B-high grade artiste of All India Radio (Kolkata) and Doordarshan (Kolkata). She has completed and secured 1st class first position in her graduation and post-graduation from Visvabharati University. She is a National scholar and Fellowship holder. She Secured 1st place in Rabindrasangeet in district level in the year 1986. Yagnyaseni has been a disciple of late Pt. Samaresh Chawdhury of Senia-Rampur gharana since 1992, which is mainly famous for the BADAT of raga and Taankari. Yagnyaseni also received training in famous Agra gharana from Prof. Mohan Singh Khangura in addition to receiving the training of Rabindrasangeet from two well-known vocalists of Santiniketan.

For more than 15 years,  she has been a trainer of Hindustani classical music in guru-shishya parampara style. Many of her students have become trainers of this gharana in most parts of the world.
